I learned to love drawing from my Aunt, who studied at the Royal College of Art in the 1940s. Drawing offers a direct connection to the subject, capturing the essence of a moment from nature and transforming it into a lasting work of art. While drawing informs my sculpture, it remains a separate medium in its own right. When I draw the swans, I feel as though I am transported into their world. A symbiosis occurs, one that has led me to record their lives on paper and also to look out for their welfare.
