William David Trimble, Baron Trimble, PC
William David Trimble, also known as Lord Trimble, was a Northern Irish politician and key architect of the Good Friday Agreement, which helped bring peace to Northern Ireland after decades of conflict. As leader of the Ulster Unionist Party, he became the first First Minister of Northern Ireland in 1998. In recognition of his efforts toward peace, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize alongside John Hume that same year. This commemorative bust, which depicts Lord Trimble at the time of The Good Friday Agreement, was commissioned through The Speaker’s Advisory Committee on Works of Art.
